acts_as_conference day 1

Great talks so far. I had a problem with my registration, paypal billed a closed bank account so technically I’m not registered just yet. Talked with Robert and he’s going to update the site so I can register again.

Being a Ruby novice is not working to my advantage at a conference for advanced Ruby developers. Hopefully I’ll be able to walk away with the knowledge of how to really get a good project plan started.

Monday when we get back to South Carolina I’m to lay down some project goals for myself.

puts ‘Hello world!’

This is my first blog post. Just arrived in Orlando Florida for the acts as conference. Our hotel is exactly what you’d expect for paying $75 for the weekend in Orlando.

In November I interviewed for a company called Echo Star. Unfortunately I didn’t get the position I was after… Being my first job interview right before I graduated from USC I was super excited. Even more exciting was that they were actually going to pay me to drive to Atlanta, Ga for the second interview. They paid for me to stay in a hotel and they said they would reimburse my meals. I felt like royalty. Today (almost three months later) I received the reimbursement check. This was after contacting them twice, the first time was ignored and the second time I was told that they just found my check and they’re going to mail it ASAP. Well, when I opened the check it was for $9.62… I’ve contacted them again through email to remind them that I drove 444 miles to do the interview.
